In December of 2018, after 10 years as Small Business DESIGN Solutions, we officially changed our name to Kalamazoo Web Design. At that time, we kept our logo similar for a “soft” rebranding. Now that enough time has passed, we are excited to unveil our new logo!
Being of a creative and super reflective mindset, it wasn’t easy. It’s always much easier to design for someone other than yourself! Here is what was necessary for the redesign:
- Play on the “K” for Kalamazoo as well as Kim Kopec 🙂
- Visible, creative icon that flows well across all media platforms
- Communicate the four elements of a solid web design
- Keep current color scheme, but add a couple extra colors for “pop”
After several months of concepts (about 30) and “back-to-the-drawing-board,” I finally landed on something that resonated. While searching for inspiration online, something struck and I took off! Then, as any good designer must do – I slept on it. Several nights, in fact. After a few days, I was not only still happy with it, but ecstatic! A few more tweaks (compulsive tweaker, here) and we were good to go.
Then, the idea came for the animated logo – I could hardly contain myself! Animation made it fun to convey the “coming together” of all elements that create a solid website – Design, Content, Foundation, Management. LOVE it! (Happy, happy, happy, dance!)
We hope you like our fresh new look! Redesigns can definitely be challenging and have to be strategically launched so as not to cause brand confusion.
